On Sunday, March 27, 2022, Santi Wana Eco Community, together with BIG Trees, organized a short-term, one-day volunteering course. The participants learned about plant trimming from speakers from the Thai Arboriculture Association and the Big Trees Project network, learned about tree pruning tools, practiced using the pruning tools provided, and watched how to climb the trees with arborist climbing equipment. In the afternoon, participants were divided into 2 groups to practice pruning medium-sized trees using handsaws, and saws with handles. They also got to practice pruning branches and trees near the pavilion (there was a demonstration and a climbing trial for those who are interested). There were also special activities from the community by Khun Komsan Hutaphaet, the director of the Santi Wana Eco Community, the Media Center for Development Foundation, and Urban Agriculture Learning Center (Grandpa’s Vegetable Garden). He showed how to burn bio-charcoal with a Kon Tiki Klin stove – changing branches to bio-charcoal to nourish the soil.
